From landing to your hotel

Pa Klok is the island's east side, not a beach resort

Pa Klok belongs to Thalang, the district at the top of the island, and it sits on the east coast. People who book a transfer here are not after a beach. The sea is on the other side of the island.

The best-known reason to come is the Phuket Elephant Sanctuary, which is in Pa Klok and runs on a no-riding policy. The other is the Khao Phra Thaeo protected forest. Bang Pae Waterfall is on its Pa Klok side, and a gibbon rehabilitation project sits close to it. Visits to both are arranged with the places themselves, so check their current rules and booking times before you plan the day.

There is no resort strip here. If you need shops or restaurants within walking distance, read your hotel's own location notes before you book.

The drive: 16 km, about 20 minutes

The airport is at the northern end of the island, and Pa Klok is on the east side of Thalang, so the car heads inland instead of south to the beaches. It uses Highway 402, Phuket's main north-south road, and turns off it in Thalang toward the east coast.

It is a short drive without the long highway stretch of a west-coast beach transfer, and the time stays close to 20 minutes in normal traffic. The comparison below uses the figures from our price list.

Finding a villa or guesthouse in Pa Klok

Some places here sit on small lanes away from the main road, so a map pin is the most useful thing you can send. Add the name of the property and a phone number for the host or reception, and mention any gate or entrance that is not visible from the road.

If you land late, tell the host your arrival time too. The transfer runs 24/7 and the driver follows your flight number, but someone still has to be there to let you in.

At 20 minutes, this is a transfer where you can easily arrive before the property is ready for you. Check-in times are set by the hotel or host, so ask in advance whether you can drop your bags early or go straight to a visit first. A morning landing is the case where this comes up most often.

Coming for a day at the sanctuary or the waterfall

If you plan to go straight from the airport to a visit with the bags in the boot, say so in the booking notes and put the exact address of the place, so the driver does not drop you at the wrong gate.

Choosing the car

The price is set by the car, not by the number of passengers. A sedan at 999 THB takes up to 3 passengers with luggage, an SUV or MPV at 1,199 THB up to 4, and a minibus at 1,499 THB up to 9. The VIP minibus at 1,999 THB seats up to 8 in a premium cabin. For a family with strollers and large cases, count the bags first and the seats second.

Meeting your driver

After immigration and baggage, your driver waits at Gate 2 next to Exit 2 for international flights, or at Gate A for domestic ones. If you do not want to wait in the arrivals queue, Fast Track is available at the airport on arrival.
