From your hotel to the departures hall
- 1Book with your hotel and timeEnter the hotel name, a map pin if you have one, and the time you want to leave. Add your flight number so we know your departure.
- 2The driver arrives at your hotelHe comes to the pick-up point at the agreed time, helps with the luggage and checks the address.
- 3About 1 hour 5 minutes to the airportA direct drive to Phuket International Airport, with no other passengers and no stops unless you ask.
- 4Drop-off at departuresThe car stops at the departures hall of your terminal, close to check-in.
What time should the driver collect you?
Most people want the pick-up time settled first, so start there. A common rule of thumb is to be at the airport about 3 hours before an international flight. The check-in deadline that counts is your airline's, and on a domestic flight it may be shorter, so look at your booking before you decide.
Then add the drive. Patong to the airport takes about 1 hour 5 minutes in normal traffic, and the hill road out of town is where a slow day costs you minutes. Half an hour of margin on top is cheap protection. A flight at 12:00, for example, points to a pick-up near 07:30. The distance page has a table for early, midday and late departures.
Pick-up at your Patong hotel
When you book you give the hotel name, a map pin and your flight time. The driver comes to the hotel at the agreed minute, so be in the lobby with your bags a few minutes early.
Patong looks compact, but the pin still earns its place. The beach is about 3 km long. Beach Road runs along the sand, Rat-U-Thit Road runs behind it, and plenty of hotels sit on side streets between the two or on the slope behind town.
Bangla Road becomes a walking street in the evening. If your hotel is on it or just off it, the car stops at the nearest point it can reach and you walk the last stretch with your luggage. Allow a few extra minutes for that when you choose the time. The Bangla Road page describes the street.
The road out of Patong
The route is the arrival route in reverse. The car climbs Patong Hill on Phra Barami Road, comes down into Kathu and joins Highway 402, Phuket's main north-south road. From there it runs north across the island, passes the Heroines Monument roundabout in Thalang and reaches the airport at the top of the island.
The slow parts are the two ends. First come Patong's own streets, with scooters and tuk-tuks around the hotels, then the winding climb. Highway 402 is the easier driving. At the airport the car stops at the departures hall, close to check-in.
Before you leave the hotel
- Pay any extras, such as the minibar or laundry, before the driver arrives.
- Look in the room safe, behind the bed and in the bathroom for passports, chargers and anything plugged in.
- If your flight is in the evening and checkout is at midday, ask reception whether they can keep your bags, then book the car for the later time.
- Keep your passport and boarding pass in your hand luggage, not in a case that goes in the boot.
Which car for the way home
People often leave with more bags than they arrived with, so count them again before you choose. A sedan takes up to 3 passengers with luggage. Four people go in the SUV / MPV. A group of up to 9 takes the minibus, and the VIP minibus seats up to 8 in a premium cabin. If you are one over the limit, go up a size.
What to send when you book
- The name of your Patong hotel and a map pin.
- Your flight number and departure time, plus the date.
- The car size.
- Payment by Visa, Mastercard or PayPal, taken when you book.
Trips on 24 December to 5 January carry a holiday surcharge of 400 THB per car. Outside those dates the table price applies.
Questions about this transfer
How early should the driver pick me up for an international flight?
Count back about 3 hours from departure, a common recommendation for international flights. Then take off the 1 hour 5 minute drive and add a margin of around half an hour. Your airline's own check-in deadline is the real limit, so check it in your booking.
Can I be collected at 3 or 4 am?
Yes. The service runs 24/7 and the price is the same at any hour. Give your flight number and departure time when you book.
My hotel is on Bangla Road. Where does the car wait?
At the nearest point a car can reach. The street is a walking street in the evening, so expect a short walk with your bags. Send the hotel name and a map pin when you book.
When and how do I pay?
When you book, by Visa, Mastercard or PayPal.
Where does the car stop at the airport?
At the departures hall, close to check-in. The Gate 2 and Gate A meeting points are for arrivals, which is the other direction.
