Why Khao Lak costs more than a Phuket beach
A sedan to Patong, Karon or Kata is 999 THB. To Khao Lak it is 2,199 THB. The reason is the length of the job: 80 km and about 1 hour 30 minutes, with the car leaving the island for Phang Nga province. Patong, Karon and Kata are 40 to 46 km away. The price follows the length of the trip.
It is still one amount for the whole car. An SUV / MPV with four people on board is 2,499 THB for the car, and the figure does not climb with slow traffic.
What the price covers
Fuel, tolls and the airport pick-up are inside the fixed price. The driver meets you at Gate 2 next to Exit 2 after an international flight, or at Gate A after a domestic one, and follows your flight number. If the flight is late, the pick-up still happens, day or night.
Payment is made when you book, by Visa, Mastercard or PayPal. Fast Track at the airport is optional and only works on arrival.
Matching the car to the group
| Who is travelling | Car | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 3 with luggage | Sedan | 2,199 THB |
| 4 with luggage | SUV / MPV | 2,499 THB |
| 5 to 9 with luggage, or a diving party with gear | Minibus | 2,999 THB |
| Up to 8 in a premium cabin | VIP Minibus | 3,999 THB |
On a long route the gap between sizes is wider in baht, so check it before you book. For a family of four, the SUV / MPV is 300 THB more than the sedan and fits one more person. For a group of seven, one minibus at 2,999 THB beats two sedans at 4,398 THB together, and two sedans carry only 6 passengers anyway.
The one date range that changes the price
Trips on 24 December to 5 January carry a surcharge of 400 THB per car. A sedan to Khao Lak is then 2,599 THB, an SUV or MPV 2,899 THB, a minibus 3,399 THB and a VIP minibus 4,399 THB. Outside those dates the table price is what you pay.
If you are going even further
Khao Lak is the first mainland stop. Khao Sok, inland, starts from 2,999 THB for a sedan, and Krabi from 4,599 THB. The full list is on the price page. Public buses and shared vans change their fares and schedules, so look up the current ones. The how-to-get page compares the options.
Questions about this transfer
Is the price for the car or per passenger?
It is for the car. A sedan is 2,199 THB for the whole trip with one, two or three passengers. The price goes up only if you need a bigger car.
Why is Khao Lak so much more than Patong?
Because the trip is far longer: 80 km and about 1 hour 30 minutes, to another province. Patong is 40 km away and a sedan costs 999 THB.
Are tolls included?
Yes. Fuel, tolls and the airport pick-up are in the fixed price.
What does the transfer cost at New Year?
Trips on 24 December to 5 January carry a holiday surcharge of 400 THB per car, so a sedan is 2,599 THB and a minibus is 3,399 THB.
Can I pay when I arrive?
Payment is taken when you book, by Visa, Mastercard or PayPal.
