From your hotel to the departures hall
- 1Book with your hotel and timeEnter the hotel name, a map pin if you have one, and the time you want to leave. Add your flight number so we know your departure.
- 2The driver arrives at your hotelHe comes to the pick-up point at the agreed time, helps with the luggage and checks the address.
- 3About 25 minutes to the airportA direct drive to Phuket International Airport, with no other passengers and no stops unless you ask.
- 4Drop-off at departuresThe car stops at the departures hall of your terminal, close to check-in.
A short drive does not mean a late start
Mai Khao is the one place where people look at the map, see how close the runway is, and book the car for a time that is far too late. The drive takes about 25 minutes. The queue at check-in, bag drop and security does not shrink because you slept next door to the airport.
A common rule of thumb is to be at the airport about 3 hours before an international flight. Your airline's own deadline is the one that counts, and a domestic flight may allow less, so look at your booking. Then add the 25 minutes of driving and some margin for the pick-up itself. In round numbers, that puts the car at your door about 4 hours before an international departure.
| International flight departs | Pick-up at your hotel, roughly |
|---|---|
| 06:00 | 02:00 |
| 12:00 | 08:00 |
| 18:00 | 14:00 |
| 23:30 | 19:30 |
These are examples built on that rule of thumb, not a promise from the service. Pick the time you are comfortable with and tell us.
Pick-up at a hotel or villa on a long beach
When you book, you give the hotel or villa name, a map pin and your flight time. The driver arrives at the agreed minute, so have your bags by the door or in the lobby a few minutes early.
Mai Khao is strung out along about 11 km of coast, and accommodation is spread thinly along it. A pin saves the driver from guessing which "Mai Khao" you mean. If your villa has a gate, a private lane or a code, put that in the booking notes along with a phone number for the host or reception.
Resorts here are often set back from the road, so allow a few minutes in the plan for the car to reach the lobby and for the luggage to be loaded.
The road to the terminal
Nothing on this route is hard. The car runs along the northern end of the island to the airport, 17 km away, and stops at the departures hall close to check-in. It does not cross the island, so there is no hill road and no long highway stretch to plan around.
The only variable is where you start. A hotel near the airport end of the beach is a quicker run than one near Sarasin Bridge at the far north, and 25 minutes is the typical figure for the area.
Early flights from a quiet beach
Mai Khao is a quiet stretch of coast, and there is little around the beach to fall back on at 3 am. Settle the bill and pack the night before if the flight is early.
- Keep passports, boarding passes and phone chargers in your hand luggage, not in a case that goes in the boot.
- If you have a late flight and a midday checkout, ask the hotel whether it can hold your bags, then book the car for the later time.
- Tell the hotel or villa host your departure time the evening before, so a gate or a reception desk is not a surprise at the last minute.
Which car for the trip home
Count the bags again before you choose. A sedan takes up to 3 passengers with luggage, the SUV / MPV up to 4, and the minibus up to 9. The VIP minibus seats up to 8 in a premium cabin. Souvenirs and sports gear take more room on the way out than they did on the way in, so go up a size if you are close to the limit.
What to send when you book
- The name of your Mai Khao hotel or villa, with a map pin.
- Your flight number, the departure time and the date.
- The car size.
- Payment by Visa, Mastercard or PayPal when you book.
The transfer runs 24/7. Trips on 24 December to 5 January carry a holiday surcharge of 400 THB per car; on other dates the table price applies. The meeting points at Gate 2 and Gate A are for arrivals, so you only need them on the way in. They are described on the airport to Mai Khao page.
Questions about this transfer
Mai Khao is right next to the airport. Can I leave 2 hours before my flight?
The short drive helps, but check-in and security take the same time wherever you start. A common rule of thumb is to be at the airport about 3 hours before an international flight, so with 25 minutes of driving and some margin the pick-up falls about 4 hours before departure. Your airline's own deadline is the one that counts.
Is 999 THB the price for the whole car?
Yes. 999 THB is the fixed sedan price for this route and it is per car. It includes fuel and tolls and it does not change with the number of passengers. SUV / MPV is 1,199 THB, minibus 1,499 THB and VIP minibus 1,999 THB.
Will the driver find a villa on a private lane?
Yes, if you give the villa name, a map pin and a phone number for the host. Add any gate code or entrance instructions to the booking notes.
Can I be collected in the middle of the night?
Yes. The service runs 24/7, so a 2 am pick-up for an early flight is booked in the same way and costs the same fixed price.
Where does the car stop at the airport?
At the departures hall of your terminal, close to check-in. The Gate 2 and Gate A meeting points are only for arrivals, so you do not need them on this trip.
