Private pick-up at your hotel
The driver comes to your hotel at the time you set, helps with the bags and takes you to the departures hall. It runs 24/7, and a very early flight is just another booking. The fare is fixed per car, from 999 THB for a sedan, whatever the traffic does. The cost is the only downside for a lone traveller with a small bag. Public airport bus
A public bus runs between the town and the airport and is usually the cheapest choice. It follows a timetable, so you fit your day to it. Before you plan around it, check the current first and last departures, where it leaves from in the town and how far that is from your hotel. With a 6 am flight it may not suit you at all.
A taxi hailed in town
A taxi may be easy to find on busy streets by day. At 4 am in the Old Town the supply can be thinner. Ask for the meter or fix the full fare to the airport before you set off, and give yourself more margin than you would for a booked car, because you cannot know how long you will wait.
Ride-hailing apps
Apps can work well in the middle of the day. Early in the morning a nearby driver may not accept, or may cancel after you have packed and checked out. If you rely on an app, open it earlier than you think you need to and keep a second plan.
Driving a rental car to the airport
If you hired a car for the week, driving it to the airport is straightforward on Highway 402. The extra work is at the end: filling the tank if your contract asks, finding the return point and walking to check-in with your bags. Ask the rental company where to hand the car back and how long it needs.
