Nai Harn next to the other beaches
Distance and time do not line up on Phuket, so read both columns.
| From the airport to | Distance | Time by road |
|---|---|---|
| Kamala | 27 km | 49 minutes |
| Patong | 40 km | 1 hour 5 minutes |
| Karon | 43 km | 1 hour 10 minutes |
| Kata Beach | 46 km | 1 hour 15 minutes |
| Rawai | 47 km | 1 hour |
| Nai Harn | 48 km | 1 hour 10 minutes |
Karon is 5 km shorter and takes the same 70 minutes. Kata Beach is 2 km shorter and 5 minutes slower. Rawai is 1 km shorter and a full 10 minutes quicker.
Where the 48 km goes
The airport is in the far north of the island and Nai Harn is in the far south, so the trip covers nearly the whole length of Phuket. The car joins Highway 402, passes the Heroines Monument roundabout in Thalang and keeps heading south through the middle of the island.
The final part is on smaller roads around the hills of the south, near the lake behind the beach. The driver chooses the exact line on the day.
What changes the 70 minutes
- Night and early morning: the main road is clearest, so the figure holds or improves.
- Daytime in the high season, with mid-December to January the busiest weeks: leave a little extra room.
- Heavy rain slows the hill roads more than the highway.
- A hotel up a hillside adds a few minutes to the last stretch.
The 70 minutes is driving time to Nai Harn. Immigration, baggage and the walk to the car come before it.
From landing to your hotel door
The drive is only part of the wait. Add the time you need at passport control and the baggage belt, which varies from flight to flight, and then the 1 hour 10 minutes in the car. If it takes you an hour to clear immigration and collect your bags, you reach a hotel in Nai Harn about 2 hours 10 minutes after the plane touches down, plus the last few minutes up the hill.
Plan check-in around that figure, and for a late-night arrival tell the hotel your flight number in advance.
Distance and the price
Despite being the longest of the group, Nai Harn costs the same as the nearer beaches: 999 THB for a sedan. The price page shows why, and the booking page has the pick-up details.
