Where Panwaburi is

Panwaburi sits on Cape Panwa, the headland at Phuket's south-east corner, far from the busy west-coast beaches. The Panwaburi Beachfront Resort is on Ao Yon, a small cove on the cape, and the name is used for this part of the coast. Panwa Beach, also called Khao Khad Beach, is close by and looks across Chalong Bay.

At the tip of the cape is the Phuket Aquarium, which belongs to the Phuket Marine Biological Center. There is also a hilltop viewpoint, the Khao Khad View Tower, with a wide view of the bay and the islands. If your stay is somewhere else on the cape, send the name of the place and a map pin when you book.

The drive across the island

The airport is at the northern end of Phuket and the cape is at the south-eastern end, so the car crosses most of the island. It runs south on Highway 402 past the Heroines Monument roundabout, then continues past the Phuket Town area to the cape.

Phuket Town is 36 km and 50 minutes from the airport, so Panwaburi is about 9 km and 10 minutes beyond it. Patong is closer on the map at 40 km, but it takes about 1 hour 5 minutes because of the hill road and the town traffic.

Which car fits your group

The price depends on the car, not on the number of people, so choose by seats and bags.

A resort stay usually means more bags than a hostel night, so a family of four with large cases should look at the SUV or MPV first.

Landing late

Transfers run 24/7. A landing at midnight means reaching the cape at about 1 am, so tell the hotel your arrival time and ask if reception is staffed. The driver tracks your flight, so delays do not matter for the pick-up.

Fast Track is available at the airport on arrival. Trips on 24 December to 5 January carry a holiday surcharge of 400 THB per car, which makes a sedan 1,399 THB.

What to send when you book

1. Your flight number and arrival date.
2. The name of your hotel or villa on the cape, with a map pin.
3. The car size.
4. Payment by Visa, Mastercard or PayPal when you book.

On arrival the driver waits at Gate 2 next to Exit 2 for international flights, or at Gate A for domestic ones.
