Plan the transfer around your ferry

Donsak Pier is in Don Sak district, Surat Thani province, on the Gulf of Thailand side of the southern peninsula. Ferries run from here to Koh Samui and Koh Phangan. The ferry is the fixed point of the day, so start with its departure time and work backwards.

1. Look up the current sailings with the ferry company and pick one you want to catch.
2. Subtract the 3 hours 30 minutes of the drive.
3. Subtract the time you need at the airport for immigration and baggage, and leave a margin for traffic.

That tells you which flight is realistic. A plane that lands an hour before the sailing will not work, however fast the car goes. The ferry ticket is separate from the transfer, which covers the car only. Different ferry companies use different piers on Koh Samui, so check which one your ticket uses before you plan the last leg.

Which car for 260 km

Almost four hours in a car is a long time to sit next to your luggage, so take the larger size if you are on the edge.

Across the peninsula to the Gulf coast

This is the farthest destination we serve from Phuket airport. The car leaves the island by the Sarasin Bridge, crosses Phang Nga province and then heads over the southern peninsula to Surat Thani province, where the coast faces the Gulf of Thailand instead of the Andaman Sea.

The total is 260 km. Any stop for a meal adds to the 3 hours 30 minutes, so tell the driver at the start if you want one and allow for it in your ferry plan.

Late landings and the last sailing of the day

The transfer runs 24/7 and the driver tracks your flight number, so the car can meet you at any hour. The limit is the ferry. Check the last sailing of the day before you book a late flight. If you would reach the pier after it has gone, you need a different plan for the night, and it is better to know that before you land.

Fast Track is available at the airport on arrival if you want to shorten the time to the car.

What to send when you book

4. Payment by Visa, Mastercard or PayPal when you book.

At the airport the driver waits at Gate 2 next to Exit 2 for international flights, or at Gate A for domestic ones.
